This weekend, Candle Collective UK spent three wonderful days trading at the iconic Sefton Park Palm House in Liverpool, and it quickly became one of my favourite events we’ve ever attended.
From live music and independent makers to incredible food and thousands of visitors walking through the doors, the atmosphere throughout the weekend was unforgettable. But what made this event even more special for me was the limited edition candle inspired entirely by the Palm House itself.

What Is the Palm House in Liverpool?
Located in the heart of Sefton Park, the Palm House is one of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks. The Victorian glasshouse is filled with tropical plants, exotic greenery, and beautiful floral displays, creating a calm and atmospheric space unlike anywhere else in the city.
Over the years, the Palm House has become a popular venue for markets, weddings, live music events, wellness experiences, and independent business pop-ups, attracting visitors from across the UK.
For small businesses like mine, it’s the perfect environment to connect with customers in person and showcase handmade products in a truly memorable setting.
Creating a Candle Inspired by the Palm House
Ahead of the event, I wanted to create something completely unique to celebrate the experience of trading inside such a beautiful venue.
That’s how the limited edition “Palm House” candle was born.
The fragrance was designed to capture the warm floral atmosphere of the glasshouse itself, soft exotic florals layered with fresh botanical notes inspired by the incredible plants and greenery surrounding me throughout the weekend.
As a home fragrance brand, I’ve always believed scent should tell a story and create an emotional connection. I wanted this candle to feel like stepping into a tropical glasshouse filled with warmth, greenery, and calm.
My Best Seller of the Weekend
What I didn’t expect was the response the Palm House candle would receive.
Within hours of launching it at the market, it quickly became our best seller of the entire weekend!
So many customers stopped at my stand, smelled the candle, and instantly connected with it. Some said it reminded them of holidays abroad, botanical gardens, spa experiences, peaceful summer evenings and one even saying their wedding day as their wedding venue was the iconic Palm House. Others simply loved that it captured the atmosphere of the Palm House so perfectly.
As a small business owner, those moments mean everything.
Seeing people emotionally connect with a fragrance you’ve created from scratch is incredibly rewarding and reminds me exactly why I started Candle Collective UK in the first place.

Why Pop-Up Markets Matter for Small Businesses
Events like Pop Up at the Palm House are about so much more than sales.
For independent businesses, markets provide an opportunity to meet customers face-to-face, hear real feedback, build trust, and create experiences that simply can’t happen online.
In a world dominated by large retailers and fast shopping, customers are increasingly looking for products with meaning, story, and personality behind them.
That’s why independent maker events continue to grow in popularity across Liverpool and the UK.
People want to support real people.
They want to know who created the product, why it was made, and the story behind the brand.
The Reality Behind Small Business Events
Of course, weekends like this also involve plenty of behind-the-scenes hard work.
Early starts, unpacking stock, long days on your feet, unpredictable weather, loading vans, building displays, and trying to stay active on social media at the same time are all part of running a small business.
But despite the exhaustion, events like the Palm House remind me why I love what I do.
There’s something incredibly special about watching someone discover a scent they instantly fall in love with.
Supporting Independent Businesses in Liverpool
Liverpool has such an incredible independent business community and weekends like this showcase just how talented local makers truly are.
From handmade products and artisan food to art, jewellery, ceramics, and home fragrance, events at the Palm House create opportunities for customers to shop small and discover brands they may never have found online.
Supporting small businesses doesn’t just help local makers financially, it helps keep creativity, individuality, and craftsmanship alive.
Will the Palm House Candle Return?
After selling so quickly over the weekend, I'm already being asked whether the Palm House candle will make a return in the future.
At the moment, it remains a very limited edition fragrance, which makes it even more special for those who managed to purchase one during the event.
But after such an incredible response, I have a feeling this may not be the last time Palm House appears in the Candle Collective UK collection.
